Croatia’s Nova TV Unveils Live Mobile HD Unit

Live Multi-Camera HD with ToolsOnAir and Pipeline

When Nova TV went on the air in November of 2000, it made history as Croatia’s first commercial television network. Now celebrating its tenth year, the network recently unveiled their new state-of-the-art mobile HD production van. Equipped with four Pipeline HD Dual video capture systems, the van uses ToolsOnAir’s LiveCut and just:in control software to integrate eight live multi-camera HD video capture streams into its tapeless production workflow.

The popularity among Croatian TV viewers of American reality shows like Survivor and Temptation Island has led to the creation of SuperTalent, one of Nova TV’s own daily reality shows. NovaTV’s new Apple-based mobile HD production van takes SuperTalent live, traveling across Croatia to record the show using ToolsOnAir’s multi-camera production control software and four Telestream Pipeline HD Dual video capture systems.

Controlled by ToolsOnAir’s LiveCut and just:in, eight live HD camera streams are simultaneously captured into four Pipeline dual HD systems and immediately encoded to ProRes 422 (HQ), Apple’s professional HD editing format. The files are delivered immediately to a central server, ready for instant access and editing on any of the van’s numerous Final Cut workstations. This ability to edit media files even while they are still being captured has dramatically enhanced Nova TV’s live production capabilities.
