Vienna, Austria. March 17th, 2025 – ToolsOnAir and NDI, the global standard for plug-and-play connectivity, have joined forces to enhance NDI metadata capabilities, unlocking unprecedented control in live production and broadcast workflow.
As part of this effort, newly updated documentation (NDI Metadata Documentation) outlines how developers can leverage seamless, bidirectional XML metadata exchange between NDI senders and receivers. This advancement enables innovative workflows, remote control functionalities, and smarter automation, optimizing live event and broadcast environments.
In addition to documenting existing capabilities with the support of Vizrt, the latest NDI Metadata release introduces a new official standard NDI metadata element, developed in collaboration with NDI innovation partner ToolsOnAir, namely the support for broadcast standards CEA-708 & SCTE-104 for the NDI ecosystem, to further expand its capabilities for modern broadcast applications.
“Having processed metadata across all our solutions for years—primarily in the SDI domain—we recognize its critical role in broadcast production. NDI metadata extends this capability into the IP realm, enabling deeper integration, smarter automation, and more efficient workflows within the NDI ecosystem. The excellent and solution-oriented collaboration with the NDI team ensures that together, we push the boundaries of video innovation, creating seamless, intelligent solutions for the present and future of NDI-based productions,” said Manuel Grund, COO of ToolsOnAir.
