Vienna, Austria. December 20th, 2023 – ToolsOnAir, a leading provider of broadcast solutions for the macOS and Linux platforms, released version 6.1 of just: in mac and just:in linux, version 5.1 of just:live and just:live and the first releases of just:in mac lite NDI.
“The holiday season is upon us, and we are excited to release new point versions of our flagship capture and playout solutions and thrilled to introduce a new addition to our macOS product line, namely just:in mac lite NDI. This new single application solution, explicitly aimed at NDI® High Bandwidth format recording, shares the same flexible and reliable capture engine of just:in mac and covers the indispensable recording functions of broadcast and production environments that might not require the full feature set of our flagship ingest solutions or are in demand for a budget-friendly capture solution. ” says Peter Steiner, Head of Worldwide Sales at ToolsOnAir.
HLS Output (just:in mac solutions)
Version 6.1 introduces an exciting enhancement alongside traditional file outputs, namely HLS, to take advantage of the HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) output format. This feature opens up a world of possibilities for seamless integration into production workflows. With the addition of the HLS output format, one can easily share recordings in real-time with external production teams. Simply provide them with the URL so that they can follow the recording effortlessly using a standard web server. But that’s not all – this update takes integration with media asset management systems to the next level. External systems can leverage the provided HLS feed for various purposes, including advanced logging and tracking functionalities. With this new addition to the feature set of just:in mac, production workflows are about to become even more streamlined and efficient!
New Naming Presets (just:in mac and just:in linux solutions)
In this release, Naming Presets take a giant leap forward with exciting new capabilities. One standout feature is the ability to dynamically generate folders using Date and Time values or any other variable of choice. Mix and match static and custom values to increase the efficiency of your naming conventions workflow. Additionally, our development team has completely redesigned the Date and Time formatting, offering an expanded array of format options. This redesign ensures greater flexibility and customization, allowing you to tailor your naming conventions to your needs, and increasing the efficiency and creativity levels with the enhanced Naming Presets functionality.
Optimised Schedule Mode (just:in mac and just:in linux solutions)
Schedule Mode has been a vital part of the just:in capture solution lines since day one, and with this recent update, we’ve made it even more powerful. The all-new Naming Presets for Schedule mode not only brings fresh Date and Time formatting options but also unlocks a realm of innovative workflow possibilities. Notably, a new Clip section was introduced within the Channel inspector, a familiar feature from Crash and Batch Mode. Additionally, Naming Presets are now integrated into Schedule Mode, providing operators with increased flexibility in defining file naming conventions.
Optimised version 5.1 of ToolsOnAir’s Client-Server Playout Solutions for macOS
Version 5.1 is an optimisation release. Version 5.0 of just:live and just:play, introduced NDI® in/out capabilities, including VANC data support, as well as additional output formats, a redesigned audio engine, and enhanced Rules workflow. The NDI® I/O support unlocks the possibility to receive NDI® streams as a Live Input signal or to provide a NDI® High Bandwidth output signal, as an alternative to a traditional SDI output. SRT, UDP, and ST-2110 support will follow in an upcoming 5.x point release.
The redesign of the audio engine now relies on native SDK support to improve audio stability and multichannel performance. These additions significantly enhance the flexibility and versatility of our playout solutions, empowering broadcasters to achieve their creative vision with ease.
All macOS-based solutions are optimised to run on macOS Sonoma and Apple silicon hardware.
NEW – Single Application just:in mac lite NDI for macOS
The new single application for macOS, just:in mac lite NDI, is positioned as a powerful entry-level capture product, with up to 8 channels of NDI® High Bandwidth recording capability using ProRes, H.264, H.265, and XDCAM HD 422 (MXF) codecs and is introduced at a very competitive price point.
