New integration combines broadcast-grade multichannel recording, automatic asset creation, metadata synchronization, proxy workflows, and real-time HLS preview directly within Iconik.
Vienna, Austria - 07.07.2026 - ToolsOnAir today announced a deep integration between its professional, software-defined video server CORE I/O and Iconik, the cloud-native media management and creative operations platform. The new workflow allows production teams to register, preview, enrich, and prepare live-recorded content in Iconik from the moment recording begins.
Designed for sports, news, live events, corporate production, education, podcasts, and other distributed production environments, the integration closes the gap between live capture and creative collaboration. Remote teams no longer need to wait for a recording to finish, undergo additional processing, and upload before they can see or work with the material.
With CORE I/O, high-resolution media can remain on premises or on cost-controlled storage, while lightweight proxies, metadata, and live HLS previews are made available in Iconik. This hybrid approach gives organizations fast cloud-based access and collaboration without requiring every high-resolution recording to be transferred immediately to the cloud.
“This is a total game changer for Iconik users because, in production, time is money,” said Christian Schabasser, Senior Product Manager at ToolsOnAir. “Our new real-time HLS preview brings incoming recordings directly into Iconik while they are still being captured. Editors, producers, and remote teams can immediately see what is happening, start adding metadata, and prepare the next steps instead of waiting for the recording and upload to finish. We are turning the recording moment into a live collaboration moment.”
Simple Setup, Automated Workflow
Administrators connect CORE I/O to Iconik directly through the CORE I/O web interface using their Iconik credentials. CORE I/O automatically retrieves the available Iconik domains, storage locations, and metadata views, eliminating terminal work and manual file configuration.
Recording profiles can be prepared in advance so operators only need to select the appropriate flow, enter a file name, and start recording.
Depending on the profile, CORE I/O can simultaneously create:
- A high-resolution broadcast master stored at a local or scanned destination
- A web proxy uploaded directly to Iconik for immediate review and collaboration
- An optional editing proxy attached to the Iconik asset for post-production
- A live HLS proxy that can be viewed inside Iconik while recording is in progress
- As soon as recording starts, CORE I/O automatically creates the corresponding asset in Iconik. Metadata views are dynamically loaded from Iconik into CORE I/O, allowing operators to enter information without recreating forms or switching workflows.
- Metadata is synchronized with Iconik, and when recording ends, the asset is automatically updated with the completed files.
- The result is a streamlined workflow with no manual file chase and no delay before remote collaboration can begin. Editors and producers can monitor incoming feeds, add metadata, review content, log shots, and begin editorial planning from the first frame.
“CORE I/O adds a professional broadcast recording engine to the Iconik environment customers already know and trust,” said Peter Steiner, Chief Business Officer at ToolsOnAir. “Together, CORE I/O and Iconik make live production faster, more visible, and easier to manage, while giving customers the flexibility to keep high-resolution content where it makes the most operational and financial sense.”
