Inspector – Overview v.2026.x

1. Inspector Tabs: select the appropriate tab here.

   1. Settings: General tab for settings such as File Naming, Timecode Source, Capture- and Destination-Preset.

   2. Connections: within the “Connections” tab, all available Devices/Channels are displayed.

2. Channel Name: displays the Name of the selected Channel.

3. Channel Mode Selection: displays the current Channel Mode (Crash or Schedule) of the selected Channel. You can switch the Channel Mode here as well (that is only possible while the Channel is in idle mode).

4. Clip:

   1. Naming Preset: select one of the available Naming Presets for the selected Channels.

   2. Name/Variables: depending on the selected Naming Preset the available Variables may differ. In this picture, there's only one Variable called "Name".

   3. Resulting Filename: shows the resulting filename based on the Variables of the selected Naming Preset. The file name used for the recorded video files may be different if the file name already exists on the given recording path.

5. Timecode:

   1. Timecode: select a Timecode Source (Computer Time, LTC over Audio, Capture card LTC, SDI Embedded).

      1. Computer Time: the standard Timecode Code option available on every Mac and reflecting Time of Day information.

      2. LTC over Audio: used with a USB Audio interface to receive an audio-based LTC signal.

      3. Capture Card LTC: used when an AJA card with LTC In port is available to receive an LTC signal.

      4. SDI Embedded: the preferred Timecode option as all information is provided through the SDI cable. Requires an SDI Timecode Embedder, though.

   2. Offset: This setting can be used to set a Timecode offset. As soon as you add a value here, the Timecode display changes accordingly.

   3. Stop on Timecode: Set a Timecode where to stop the current ongoing Recording. Please note, that you have to enable the option “Enable Stop on Timecode” separately.

6. Preview Monitor: you can listen to the Audio Channels of the incoming Signal to preview the audio in addition to the video preview. This is for previewing purposes only and will not replace a hardware device to check the audio quality or A/V synchronization. Additionally, you can select “Monitor Closed Captions/Subtitles If Available” to preview incoming CC metadata for pre-recording control.

   1. Enabling/Disabling a Single Audio Channel: click on the desired Audio Channel to enable/disable the Audio Preview.

   2. Enabling/Disabling all Audio Channels: hold the “Option” key while clicking on any Audio Channel to enable/disable the Audio Preview for all incoming Audio Channels.

7. Messages: if there are any warnings, they will be displayed in this section. You can either use the “Clear all” button to clear Messages manually, or this section will be cleared automatically at every recording start.

8. Capture ID:

   1. Capture Preset: select one of the available Capture Presets. 

   2. Destination Preset: select one of the available Destination Presets.

When a Channel is in Schedule Mode, you will see a “Schedule” section, instead of the “Clip” section in Crash Mode. The examples show some recording events (in the example above “Demo”) scheduled for the next 24 hours. In Schedule Mode there is no “Record” button available as Recordings will start and stop automatically according to the Start- and End-time of Calendar events. The Just In Mac Lite 2026 application lets you select and use any Calendar, which can be imported into the Apple Calendar application. This can be a local Calendar, an iCloud, Gmail, or an Exchange Calendar.
