Besides playing Videos and Graphics, our playout solutions also allow you to manage live input signals such as live studio signals or satellite feeds, and send them to the SDI (or any supported streaming) output.
We support switch to live in SD, HD and UHD, where the incoming signal must match the output format, defined for the channel.

…using the more traditional way by controlling a mixer/router.
…configuring the Playout Video device to do so.
Using the playout video device to switch to the Live Input signal means, that the video card synchronizes to the incoming video and not to the reference signal. To stabilize the signal in advance (i.e., before it is sent to the video card input) you must use a frame synchronizer which supports the playout format of your channel. Suited frame synchronizers can be found on the AJA Website or you can also use a Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher.
With Switch to Live activated, the Live Input signal is grabbed from the SDI input and send to the playout engine. This process adds a delay of approximately 10 frames to the Live Input signal. This means that the signal which is visible at the output, has been received 10 frames ago.
Works in SD, HD and UHD, depending on the capabilities of the video device used for playout.
Works with all supported video devices with an SDI input, except the AJA KONA LHi and KONA LHe Plus.
Works in case the engine is set up using an NDI®, SRT or UDP stream as the input signal.
The format of the incoming “Live” signal must match the output format defined for the channel.
The In and Output “device” must NOT be the same. It does not matter if the “device” is an AJA or Blackmagic Design hardware or a stream.
