Term Meaning
Action A named operation, such as a transfer or script hook, that can be assigned to a recording and run when the recording finishes. Actions are managed on the Actions page.
Active Directory (AD) Microsoft's directory service. CORE I/O can authenticate users against it and mirror AD groups as managed groups.
Capture preset A set of video and audio input settings for a recording, including format, frame rate, and audio channels.
Configuration (of a flow) A named set of processing settings for a flow. A flow can store several configurations and switch between them; only one is active.
CTI Current time indicator: the playhead line on a timeline.
Dashboard A page of widgets arranged on a grid. Every user has their own dashboards.
Destination preset The target for a recording or export, such as a folder on a mount point or a cloud destination.
Drop-frame A timecode counting mode for 29.97 and 59.94 fps material that skips frame numbers so the timecode tracks wall-clock time.
Encoder A preset that defines an output codec and its parameters, used by transcodes and exports.
Export preset Settings for exporting a selection, such as a loop segment or rough cut, to a file. The preset specifies the encoder, container, and naming.
Flow A processing chain on a host that receives an input and records, loops, transcodes, or plays it out. Widgets are assigned to flows.
Flow type One of Record, Loop, Transcode, or Playout. The type determines which widgets can be assigned to the flow.
Host A CORE I/O server that runs flows. The Flows page lists every host and its hardware.
Loop A flow that keeps a rolling buffer of the input, from which segments can be exported.
Loop segment A part of a loop between an in and an out point, ready for export.
MOS rundown A running order delivered by a newsroom system (Octopus) over the MOS protocol.
Mount point A storage location the server can read and write, shown as a source in the File Browser.
Naming preset A pattern of tokens (date, flow name, counter, metadata) that builds file names for recordings and exports.
Playout A flow that plays files to an output. The Single Player and Multi Player widgets control playout flows.
Proxy A low-resolution copy of a file that the browser can play. Proxy automation creates them in the background.
Record A flow that captures its input to files, on demand or on a schedule.
Rough cut A simple edit assembled from clips in the Rough Cut Editor and exported as a new file.
Seat One concurrent user session permitted by the license.
Show A saved list of clips and their in and out points that a player widget loads as a playlist.
SAML Single sign-on standard. CORE I/O can delegate sign-in to a SAML identity provider.
Stream endpoint A network input or output (SRT, UDP, HLS, NDI) that a flow reads from or writes to.
Story A block inside a show, grouping clips the way a newsroom rundown does.
Transcode A flow that converts files or streams from one format to another.
Widget A viewer, player, timeline, browser, editor, or monitor placed on a dashboard.
