The Loop Segment Exporter (LSE) creates files from the rolling recording of a Loop flow. It displays a full day on a timeline, where you can review the recorded material or monitor the live picture, set IN and OUT points, and export the selected range. A naming preset determines the file name, and you can choose the destination mount point. The exporter can also create a proxy and send the result to the Rough Cut Editor.
Add the widget to a dashboard (see Dashboards), then select a Loop flow. You can change the assigned flow later from the header.

Preview panel
The left panel contains the LIVE button, IN, Duration, and OUT values, the picture, and transport controls. In live mode, it displays the flow's live stream and audio meters, or No Signal. Outside live mode, it plays recorded segments continuously from the playhead. Drag the divider between the preview and export list to set the panel width from 20% to 80%.
Export list
The right panel is the export list. Under both panels sits the Filename: preview and the export buttons.
Timeline
The bottom holds the timeline: a ruler, the Video segment strip and a scrollbar. Drag the horizontal divider above the ruler to change the strip height (60 to 400 px).
Footer
The footer repeats the selected mount point and naming preset.
Live mode
The widget starts in live mode. LIVE is highlighted, the picture shows the live stream, and the red playhead follows the current time. While live mode is active:
- The timeline scrolls continuously and keeps the playhead at three quarters of the visible width, leaving most of the view available for recorded material.
- Panning is disabled. Middle-drag, Alt-drag, and dragging the scrollbar thumb have no effect. You can still zoom around the playhead.
- The transport shows only Set IN point (I), Set OUT point (O), and Clear both (
Shift+C).
Moving the playhead exits live mode. This includes clicking or dragging the ruler or segment strip, starting playback, stepping, entering a timecode, or choosing another day. Click LIVE to return to the live edge; if another day is open, it also returns to today. Click the button again to exit live mode without moving the playhead.
The timeline
The ruler shows the day from 00:00:00:00 to midnight, using the flow's frame rate. Drop-frame timecodes use a semicolon before the frame value. Red bands indicate periods without recorded material. Click or drag on the timeline to move the playhead; you can also drag the playhead itself.
The timecode on the left side of the ruler shows the playhead position. Click it, or press G, enter a timecode, and press Enter to jump to that position. Press Esc to cancel.
The Video strip shows thumbnails of the recorded segments. Clicking or dragging in it also moves the playhead.
IN and OUT markers are drawn on the ruler and the range between them is highlighted. Drag a marker to trim, drag the highlighted range to move IN and OUT together.
Zoom with the mouse wheel over the timeline (from 1x to 15000x, anchored on the playhead) or with the handles at both ends of the scrollbar thumb. When a frame is at least two pixels wide, the current frame is highlighted.
Outside live mode, pan by dragging the scrollbar thumb, middle-dragging, or Alt-dragging on the timeline. During playback, the view follows the playhead.
The scrollbar shows a marker for the playhead: orange normally, red in live mode.
Outside live mode the playhead, zoom and scroll position are remembered per widget and restored after a reload.
Marking a range and adding segments
- Move the playhead to the beginning of the range and click Set IN point, or press I. Move to the end and click Set OUT point, or press O. Duration shows the inclusive length of the range. Setting IN after OUT clears the OUT point; setting OUT before IN clears the IN point.
- Check the Filename preview. It displays (no preset selected) until you choose a naming preset in the settings menu, and (set In/Out to preview) until both points are set.
- Click Add Segment, or press E, to add the range to the export list. To add it and begin exporting immediately, click Add Segment and Auto-Export or press
Shift+E.
The add buttons are unavailable until both marks define a valid, fully recorded range and a naming preset is selected. A range may extend into the part of today still being recorded, provided it contains no gap and does not pass the live edge. Its export waits for the recording to finish. Duplicate ranges are rejected with Segment with same start and end time already exists. After a segment is added, the marks are cleared.
The export list

Below the list, click Export To Files to start all segments that have not yet been exported. Click Clear All to remove every row that is not currently running. If the selected day has no items, the list displays No export items. Export progress updates arrive live from the server.
Playback and transport
Outside live mode, the preview plays recorded segments back to back. Click Toggle transport controls or press T to switch between the two control sets:
- Marking set: Set IN point (I), Go to IN (
Shift+I), play/stop, Play from IN to OUT (P), Go to OUT (Shift+O), Set OUT point (O), and Clear both (Shift+C). - Jog set: Fast reverse, Jump 10s backward, Jump 1s backward (
Shift+Left), Jump 10 frames backward, Step 1 frame backward (Left), Step 1 frame forward (Right), Jump 10 frames forward, Jump 1s forward (Shift+Right), Jump 10s forward, and Fast forward.
Fast forward and fast reverse cycle through 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x and 16x each time you press them again.
Keyboard shortcuts
The shortcuts work while the widget has the keyboard focus (click into it first) and not while you type in a field.

Audio
Playback and live audio use the channels selected under Audible audio channels. Channel 1 is audible by default. The picker always lists 16 channels; channels not present in the recording remain silent. This selection is saved with the widget. Master mute is independent: enabling a channel unmutes the widget, and closing the picker does not change the selected channels.

Mount point, naming preset, audio channels, live mode, the auto-send toggle, the proxy default and the panel sizes are saved with the widget. An administrator can preselect the naming preset, the mount point and the live audio policy for new widgets under Defaults.
Good to know
The widget always shows one day. The day runs midnight to midnight in the server's timezone; the calendar only offers days with material.
Loading segments… appears while a day loads. Server errors are displayed in red.
If the assigned flow is running another configuration type, the widget remains inactive and identifies the required configuration. See Flows.
